Monday:
The Avenue of the Giants. It’s a 33 mile road that parallels 101 and winds through HUGE redwoods. We stopped in a few places and walked amongst the 300 foot trees.

We checked into a hotel near the Trees of Mystery! It’s a goofy tourist attraction with a giant statue of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox.

Laundry was becoming an issue at this point, so we sought out a local laundromat and started a load. I went back to the hotel to intercept my sister Linda, who was driving down from Oregon to meet us. Imre valiantly stayed behind to continue the laundry despite being surrounded by scary rednecks. Somehow he survived and came back to the hotel with clean clothes, horror stories and a bad impression of the local folks. We had dinner with Linda at the local restaurant and then hit the hay.
